It
is not always easy to know what to do or where to turn to when "put
on the spot" - something we discovered earlier in our managerial careers.
This is one of the reasons why there is business ethics content on
our website.
It is our hope that our site content will be of assistance to those
facing difficult decisions and dilemmas, particularly the Decision
Making Frameworks piece.
At SME we certainly are all advocates of "fairplay in business", which
we believe generally produces win-win situations - one of the foundations
for longer-term business success.
One of our objectives is to contribute to the promotion and development
of standards of professional conduct and business behaviour by :
writing articles on business
ethics and management (Accountancy Ireland, Business Contact, The
Sunday Business Post et al)
presenting courses for
Masters in Business and Final Chartered Accountancy students, business
programmes...
membership of the Ethics
Committee of the ICAI (Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland).
providing links to other
online business ethics resources. Click
here for our links page.
The Contradiction
in Terms? article has been collated from a number of sources (including
some of our own ideas). It is a useful introduction to the topic and
includes a brief history of business ethics.
Some of our own articles such as Ethical
Hypotheticals, The
Whistleblowers' Dilemma and Corporate
Change attracted interesting responses when published.
We would welcome any of your own observations, comments or suggestions
for new content via our contact form.
